Dan Henderson has great accomplishments in MMA. He is a former PRIDE welterweight and middleweight champion. Former Strikeforce lightheavyweight champion. He's also the only man who stopped Fedor Emelianenko with strikes. Now he is 44, his record is 30-13. His next opponent is Tim Boetsch on June 6 in the UFC. But how it all started?
His first fight was at event called "Brazil Open - '97" against Crezio de Souza. At the beginning of a fight Henderson landed nice hook and after that took Souza down. Dan was controlling Crezio from the top while being in the full guard. After some time "Hendo" landed couple of shots to the head and it made Brazilian stand on his feet. After getting back to his feet he was able to control Dan against the cage. But it didn't last long and after few seconds of stand-up they went to the ground. Although referee had to stand them back because of the lack of action. Then we could see some fast blows while standing and crowd really liked it but Crezio to Henderson down. Sozua had even full mount for a while but Dan rolled him over. After that Henderson was on top. He landed few punches and fight was stopped. Henderson won at time 5:25 of round 1. There is fight video:

For me it was pre-mature stoppage. There was a rule that after five straight punches fight should be stopped. There was even more punches, but many of them were blocked. What do you think about the stoppage? Write what you think and see you soon. :)

After Fight Night: Bigfoot vs Mir
That was a huge night for underdogs. Almost every one of them won his fight. This shows that anything can happen in the octagon. Even if someone is -1200 favorite he can loose the fight (Alcantara vs Saenz)
Frank Mir wasn't a big underdog. It seems like also Bigfoot has passed his prime. Good things ended for him after highlight reel knockout of Overeem. Then he lost for the second time to Cain Velasquez. Draw with Hunt and then loss to Arlovski. Fight with Frank was calm at first minute but Mir was moving forward and he landed couple of shots to the head of Antonio. In the second minute Frank tried to land a left jab. He didn't but he followed it by the left hook. This left hook dropped Silva. He ate some punches and elbows later on and after that Mario stopped the fight. I wanted Frank to win because he is nice and intelligent guy but I thought that he is not able to make it. Happily i was wrong.
Fight between Johnson vs Barboza started with Johnson pressing forward and landing majority of strikes in the opening round. Barboza wasn't able to fight his best going backwards. Altough he landed some good shots, especially kicks to the body. In the second round Barboza was doing better but still Johnson was the agressor. Edson tried to get a takedown but Michael defend it and did his own. We saw the first signs of fatigue, and there was no suprise because they was keeping the pace high. Third round was clearly won by Johnson. He was still pressing forward, he landed another takedown and Barboza didn't have an answer for it. After the final bell there was no doubt who won this fight. Johnson by unanimous deciosion. Now Michael wants to fight Benson Henderson. I hope it will happen. :)
Next event in Brazil is Maia vs Laflare. I'm sure that Brazil fans will enjoy as much as this one. :) Thanks for reading. See you soon.

Henderson vs Thatch
Four days ago there was a big fight in Broomfield, Colorado. In main event Benson Henderson fought Brandon Thatch in the main event of the evening. I think that the fight was really exciting. Let's see how it went.
In the first round Thatch was moving forward almost for the entire time. He didn't give too much space for Ben so the former lightweight UFC champion could't open up with his strikes. Thatch was hitting hard especially Henderson's body. There was also some good strikes to the head by "Rukus". However Benson few good hooks to the body. I would give 10-9 for Brandon.
Second round was big for Thatch. He landed very solid strikes to the head. I even saw Benson wobbled a little bit. The same as the previous round Brandon was controlling center of the octagon and he made Benson making circles along the fence. You could crearly see that Benson didn't want to trade strikes with 6,2 inches height welterweight. Ben tried to get a takedown but without a succes. Instead of it Brandon tripped him twice and Benson fell. 10-9 for Brandon without a doubt.
Third round was much better for Henderson. In the first minute he landed few significant strikes the head of Thatch. We saw that Brandon felt them. Later on Benson was pressing Brandon to the cage and finally had a takedown and took Brandon's back. He was working for rear-naked choke, he had body triangle and landed many punches on Broomfield local hero. Henderson also tried an armbar but Thatch broke it with ease. When they stand up Thatch tried to catch Benson but he couldn't. 10-9 for Henderson.
The championship rounds has stared. Brandon hasn't been there before so now Benson will have an advantage. They threw some strikes in the first half of fourth round and later Benson gets a takedown. Former champion gets a side control with no problem. He lands few punches from the top. Then we see Benson taking back and locking up rear naked choke. Brandon taps and the crowd goes silence. Beautiful performance.
After fight Benson said that he's open to fight Rory Macdonald. I hope it will happen and I see this as a title eliminator which will decide who will fight Robbie Lawler next. :)

Frank Mir's return
It's been a year since Frank Mir last fought in the UFC. Then he lost to Alistair Overeem. Does it make a sense to come back to the octagon after four straight loses?
Frank was the UFC champion twice. First time he submitted Tim Sylvia to win belt at 2004. It wasn't a good fight for Tim because he didn't tap fast enough and he Frank broke hist arm. Despite this win Frank wasn't able to defend the heavyweight crown. It's beacuse of his motorcycle accident which happened few months after winning the belt. It was a serious injury, Frank broke his femur in two places and he hasn't been able to fight for two years. He came back at February 4, 2006 but he lost fight by first round TKO. The man who won that fight was called Marcio Cruz but he wasn't a huge name in MMA. His record was 2-2. Later on Frank made his way to the second title shot. This one was against Minotauro Nogueira and Frank won this fight by second round TKO. His first title defence was against Brock Lesnar. Former WWE star won that fight by TKO and he made a revenge for his UFC debut when he lost to Frank.
After loss to Lesnar it's been a downhill for Mir. Although we was able to win three fights in a row he couldn't win to Shane Carwin and Junior dos Santos in his later title shots. Junior dos Santos fight started four fight loss streak for Mir. Then he also lost to Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett and Alistair Overeem and that's the point we're right now. After one year break he comes to fight Antonio Silva later this month. We know that Frank often had a problem with good strikers and I think that Brazilian will likely win it by KO or TKO. I wish Frank the best and it is possible for him to win this fight. Esspecially that Silva didn't win any of his last three fights. But to be real, Frank isn't a favorite. Mir is a intelligent, emotional man and doesn't matter if he win or lose I hope he'll have a happy life.

Silva vs Diaz
How did the UFC 183's main event look like? Let's check what Anderson and Nick brought to the table . :)
First round started with Diaz trying to make a good show. He was clowning rather than fighting. A lot of trash talk by Nick. We saw also few leg kicks by both sides and some punches especially from Anderson. Nick laid down once to entertain people, after that he went back to cage waiting for Brazilian. John Mccarthy warned fighters that they need to to be more active. Then they started to throw more punches and kicks. Most of them landed on Nick's face especially at the end of the round. Five minutes ran out and the referee separeted two middleweights. Anderson tried to say something to Nick by American didn't care and went to corner.
Second round also starterd with a lot of leg kicks. It seemed that Anderson isn't scared to use that weapon, although his last injury came from using it. American used a lot of kicks too. In the second half of round they started to mix up their strikes making combiantions. It looked really nice. Both sides absorbed some punches to the head. After the referee split two man, both of them tried to talk to each other.
After two rounds we arrived the middle of the fight. In this round we saw the most strikes so far in the fight. We saw also that Nick is kicking Silva's legs a lot. However I didn't see blocking of that kicks at all. There was also the sitiuation as in the first two rounds. Most of the strikes landed in the second half of the round. It seemed Silva and Diaz needs these two minutes after break to warm up. There was some blood around the left eye of Diaz caused by Anderson's preciosion striking.
Now we came to the championship rounds. Fourth round didn't deliver much action.I think that fighters were trying to catch some breath before the final round. Again some leg kicks landed by Diaz. Anderson was rather changing levels than striking to one place like Diaz.
Fifth and final round finally started. Nick had only five minutes to win this fight by knockout or submission. It looked like Anderson is leading the score cards. In last five minutes we saw very good striking as in the round three. They both opened up and many blows landed. We saw also a lot of blood and bruising on the Nick's eye which started two rounds earlier. They went to distance. After the fight Anderson and Nick started to celebrate while waiting for the official decision.
Anderson won the fight by unanimous decision. The scores were 2 x 50-45 and 49-46. It showed that Anderson is healthy, Nick still can fight but nothing more. There weren't so many strikes, and any takedowns. Chris Weidman said that Anderson should retire after this fight. We'll see what happens next. The decision belongs to Dana and Anderson. Thanks for reading. See you soon. :)
